Hi, I’m Peta Blevins.

I am a registered psychologist working with adults and older adolescents across a range of emotional, psychological, and performance-related concerns.

My work is particularly informed by an interest in the intersection between mental health, identity, performance, and emotional wellbeing.

I aim to provide a therapeutic space that is warm, nonjudgemental, and grounded in evidence-based practice.

My Approach

I believe therapy should feel thoughtful, respectful, and tailored to the individual.

My work draws from evidence-based psychological approaches and is adapted to each client’s goals, experiences, and needs.

I value creating a space where clients feel safe to reflect openly, build insight, and develop practical strategies to support both wellbeing and day-to-day functioning.

Professional Background

My professional experience includes work across private practice, school, and community settings supporting adolescents and adults with concerns related to anxiety, emotional wellbeing, adjustment, stress, identity, and functioning under pressure.

I also have a background in dance and a particular interest in performance science and the relationship between mental health, movement, identity, and performance.

This perspective informs my understanding of the unique pressures experienced within high-performance and achievement-oriented environments.

Research

My clinical work is also informed by my own research, which has focused on psychological wellbeing, stress and recovery, and mindfulness in dance and performing arts settings.

My doctoral research at Edith Cowan University explored how dancers navigate psychological recovery during intensive training - work that continues to shape the way I approach performance-related stress, burnout, and the relationship between training demands and emotional wellbeing.

I have published in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Dance Medicine and Science, Research in Dance Education, and the Journal of Dance Education, and have presented at national and international conferences, including the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS) and the Australian Society for Performing Arts Healthcare (ASPAH).

I have also delivered invited lectures at institutions including the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and the University of Chichester, UK.
